Jaguar v Germany Dust-up: XF v BMW 550i v MB E550 v Audi A6

http://www.edmunds.com/insidel... We regret to inform you that the era of the V8-powered midsize luxury sport sedan could be over. Gas prices aren't the problem; instead, it's the impending federal fuel-economy standards that could spell the end of these luxurious street sleepers. So this meeting of the 2008 Audi A6 4.2, 2008 BMW 550i, 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged and 2008 Mercedes-Benz E550 might represent the end of an era. Under the new rules, shoving big V8s into midsize sedans will become a questionable prospect even for luxury brands. Without massive price increases, only the most expensive flagship models will be able to offer thirsty eight-cylinder engines, leaving the smaller sedans to get by with six cylinders or worse. With that prospect looming, we figured a comparison of the current crop of V8 midsize European luxury sedans was in order. They may not have much of a future, but they offer some of the best combinations of luxury, prestige and completely unnecessary horsepower you can get — for now.

i work in BMW company in germany on the production line and i see bimmer more than anyone of u and believe me when i say every car from the same serie has a taste, and she can beat all the other car but when there is a contest u should compare the car with the same model and serie

MBZ is a good car with the luxury written all over it but its boring both ride and interior, Audi is ok. interior is really nice but overall its not performance. BMW on the other hand is a fun car to drive. Interior may fall behind MBZ and Audi but the exterior styling and performance is unmatched.I traded in my 07' 5 series cause of an accident which held up very well for a 2008 M3 cabrio. Really if you haven't driven a bimmer try it and you'll love it. for the Jag... its simple "No Comment"

An utter bullshit review! BMW 5 Series has been the best mid-size sedan for a LONG time. And the XF beating the BMW in a straight etc is because XF came out in 2007 and 5 Series in late 2003. I would like to see a comparison between a 2011 F10 against this XF! It'll get owned by the 5 Series. All of you who have marked negative for the BMW comments should just piss off!

I also love that everyone is claiming that Jaguar has "reinvented itself" recently and is now "modern and in the future," yet the XF is made completely from recycled, old, stereotypical boring Jaguar parts--suspension from the XK, chassis from the old S-type, same gas-guzzling Ford engines, etc.

I love how every comment against the Jag has gotten so many negative reviews. Hostile much? (By the way, BMW all the way!)

I love the fact that 3/4 of the cars are german
